Indian Scout Ikon shock absorbers October 2015 Koni | Suspension | Polaris | 7610 | Dampers
We're talking of course about the current model Indian Scout as manufactured by Polaris Industries which, in 2011, bought the Indian Motorcycles name and rights. Australian firm Ikon (think: Koni) has developed an upgraded rear shock absorber/damper for the Scout. The units are part of Ikon's 7610 series, and the firm claims a "dramatic improvement". These shocks feature triple rate progressive springs, twin-tube hydraulic damping, three position spring preload, and four position rebound damping—all adjustable by hand with no tools. The units, we hear, can be completely rebuilt. So what's wrong with the standard Indian Scout shock absorbers? Well, Ikon reckon that the original units are designed for two-up riding plus luggage. Also, the low-slung units with their unlikely geometry can't be fine-tuned. Ikon say they can fix the problem with these shocks/dampers which are more suitable for solo riding, and you'll need to pay £279.30 per pair (including VAT). There are two types: the SP9 with a black body and chromed springs, and the SP14 which has a black body and black springs. Call 01926 430562 or visit www.ikonshocks.co.uk for details.
