The headline news is that in 2015, British dealers sold 114,160 new motorcycles. That's a jump of 12,883 on 2014 which makes it a 12.7 percent increase. So who says so? The MCIA (Motor Cycle Industry Association). We're advised that this is the highest annual increase since 2008 and marks a generally upward trend. It's hard to see the figures reflected on the street. But then, you'd need a much bigger sales jump to make a really obvious visual impact. Naturally, the motorcycle trade will welcome these figures. The increase comes at a time when commuting by motorcycle appears to be back in fashion. The MCIA recently announced that (broadly speaking) more commuter bikes were sold in 2015 than at any time since 1983. You can read what you want into this with regard to the state of the UK economy. But it's worth mentioning that public transport fares are generally still pretty high, especially for longer distance commuters.
