Chain Monkey thingy9th December 2015 Drive chain | Tool | Adjustment | £17.99 ◄PREVIOUS STORY NEXT STORY►
Does anyone really need this tool? We're not sure. It looks suspiciously like the kind of heavyweight sledge hammer that you might use to, say, crack a very small nut. But Tru Tension, which manufactures this orange thingy, reckons you can get precise tension on your motorcycle drive chain. In fact, the firm tells us that the Chain Monkey is a great introduction to DIY maintenance and can "simplify the task, improve performance, and save [you] money through its revolutionary patented design".
Here at Sump, we love innovation. We love enterprise. And we love to see the money river in full flow. But maybe we've missed the point with this device because it's hard to see what you can do with this that you can't do with a prod, a poke and a spanner. Chain adjusting in this more primitive manner has always worked for us. And we've never been aware that a few millimetres maladjustment either way has made any practical or performance difference out on the mean streets. Nevertheless, if you like the look of this gizmo, and if you're sold on the concept and/or are the kind of guy/gal who likes to be fully tooled up for every eventuality, this Chain Monkey is currently on offer at £17.99 (down from the more "usual" £19.99). Meanwhile, be sure to check back here soon for details of our new Mirror Monkey© ®™ adjusting tool which allows for minute positioning of your handlebar glass for increased performance and safety. It'll save you a fortune on having your local mechanic do it. Patent pending. www.tru-tension.com ◄PREVIOUS STORY NEXT STORY► |
