USA Honda VFR recall1st January 2016 Honda VFR1200F | Drive line | U-joint bearings ◄PREVIOUS STORY NEXT STORY► If you're riding a 2010, 2012 or 2013 VFR1200F or VFR1200FD, better give your dealer a call and check the recall position. It appears that one or more driveline U-joint bearings are suspect and could work loose or separate and lock the swinging arm. But don't panic if you're reading this anywhere other than America. It's (so far) a US issue, so panic all you want over there.
The alert was posted on 7th December 2015 (NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V821000) and relates to possibly 1,185 bikes. If you take your motorcycle to your Honda dealer, the driveline will be replaced free of charge.
The recall should be underway even as we write, and owners of the affected bikes will be notified by mail or email (if contactable). But you can't trust the (generally reliable) system, so be proactive and make a call or two, huh? However, Honda America reckons that the replacement part (or parts) might not be available until mid-2016. Does that sound likely? We don't know. So check around closer to home. Meanwhile, you might want to keep an ear open for suspicious noises, and you might want to keep your speed down (if you know how to). There's no suggestion that anyone has been injured, and clearly Honda want to keep it that way. ◄PREVIOUS STORY NEXT STORY► |
