BMW has announced four special edition motorcycles for 2016 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG. Only 100 examples of each model will be built, all branded under the Iconic 100 Special Edition banner. The bikes are: R1200GS Iconic: £16,790
R1200GS Adventure Iconic: £17,910
R1200RS Iconic: £14,997

Top box BMW evidently feels that these bikes will become collector's pieces, and good luck to whoever buys one for investment purposes. But the biking world is awash with special this, and limited edition that. And eventually it all becomes so much more blahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Were we buying a new BMW, or for that matter any new motorcycle, we'd probably stick with the standard models and just ride 'em as much as possible, and to hell with posterity. The time is always right now. The place is always right here. Worth remembering.
