Monday 7th December 2015 is the date. Valencia, Spain is the location. Triumph's new Street Twin is the subject. That's when the first of the five-strong series of new Triumph Bonneville babies gets its bum slapped by the marketing midwives from Hinckley.

The Street Twin is intended as a budget, entry-level canvas for Triumph aficionados and creatives looking to tinker with the formula and create something ... well, else. The Twin differs from its new brethren by having a 900cc motor as opposed to the 1200cc engine in the Thruxton, Thruxton R, T120 Bonneville and T120 Bonneville Black.

Triumph is also promising 150 bolt-on accessories for the Street Twin, plus three "Inspiration Kits" such as the high level Vance & Hines Scrambler exhaust (plus brown ribbed bench seat and rear mudguard removal kit), the Brat Tracker stuff (also rear mudguard removal kit and black ribbed bench seat), and the Urban Kits (Vance & Hines slip on silencers, "Ace" 'bars, a fly screen, and waxed cotton & leather panniers).

All these kits come with compact indicators. Triumph has yet to announce the prices. But it's a given that the firm has to stay very competitive against a range of bikes currently vying for the street cool crown including Harley-Davidson's new Street 750 at a budget-hugging £5,795, the Ducati Scrambler Icon at a more bouncy £7,250; Yamaha's new XSR700 at a little over six grand; and the new Moto-Guzzi V7II Stone at seven big ones or so. Then again, the Triumph brand is on the rise and riders will pay a premium for it.
