Instructions for use:

 

1. Remove carefully from the packaging.

2. Inspect the sign and feel pleased that you bought it.

3. Find a suitable spot on a suitable wall or door.

4. Position the sign thoughtfully using strips of masking tape if necessary.

5. Carefully mount the sign with nails or screws taking utmost care not to damage any part of the design (Tip: Use fibre washers both in front and behind the sign if you're the particular type or have an obsessive-compulsive tendency).

6. Open a beer, light a fag, hug your partner or favourite pet.

7. Stand back and enjoy the sign and do this as often as time and convenience allows.

8. Drop us an email to let us know how satisfied you are.

9. Wipe the sign occasionally with a soft cloth (and wax it if you're the particular type or have an obsessive-compulsive tendency).

10. Tell your friends.

 

That's all that's required. The sign should still be fit for purpose long after you're gone, and we hope that's a long time into the future.

The BMW R90S is one of the most practical, most reliable, most durable sports-touring motorcycle ever built.

Fast and comfortable with impeccable road manners and excellent handling, the 67bhp, 900cc R90S was launched in 1973 and enjoyed a (short) three year production run. The last bike was built in 1976.

Famed BMW designer Hans Muth was the man largely responsible for the development of the bike.

Until then, the BMW Boxer was largely considered to be "an old man's bike"—and more specifically a fairly well-off "old man's bike". They weren't cheap, after all, and cost maybe 40 or 50 percent more than, say, a Triumph Bonneville.

The R90S. however, blew away any preconceptions of staidness, and almost overnight the motorcycling world was forced to re-evaluate the flat-twin, shaft drive Boxer.

Top speed was around 120mph. Handling was surprisingly good (once you adjusted to BMW's slightly quirky feel, engine-speed clutch, narrow bars and soft suspension). Reliability was a given. Ditto for build quality.

What did surprise most folk was the BMW R90s' quarter mile time of around 13 seconds, and the 0 - 60mph time of slightly under 5 seconds.

All the bikes were offered with bikini fairings and tailpieces. The livery was an unusual smokey two tone (the Daytona Orange being the most popular). The company sold around 17,500 examples across three series.
