AMB 001 being tested 18th June 2020 Aston Martin | Brough-Superior | €108,000 ◄PREVIOUS STORY NEXT STORY►
▲ A rich man's toy? Or a serious motorcycle for serious riders? Certainly George Brough would have approved. Brough-Superiors were never aimed at the hoi polloi, and this one will be limited to just one hundred units. The tradition lives on... We reported on this motorcycle back in November 2019. It's being touted/badged as an Aston Martin, but many people—notably everyday bikers—will perhaps think of it as an upmarket re-imagining of the current Brough-Superior. The model is called a 001. It will be a limited edition run of just 100 bikes. It will also be the first motorcycle to carry the Aston Martin brand. The price is expected to be €108,000, and production is looking to start in the autumn of 2020. Naturally, customers will be at liberty to vary/upgrade the specification according to their whims and budget. Recently, the 180hp motorcycle—which, incidentally, carries a power to weight ratio of 1hp per kilogram—has been spotted on tests at Pau-Arnos, France, and on video it looks impressive.
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's executive vice president and chief creative officer has been quoted as saying: "This special motorcycle is, like our road cars, the result of beautiful design melding with modern technology to produce a bike that any collector will be proud of.
"We are delighted to see how much progress has been made, both on and off track and look forward to the moment when production starts for this stunning machine." We note that Marek Reichman speaks of "collectors", and so naturally we wonder how many of these machines will ever seen tarmac—not that it's any of our business.
