The BMW S1000 RR was conceived and designed as a contender in the 2009 World Superbike Series. The first 1,000 bikes were built to satisfy homologation requirements. The following year BMW pressed the full production button and set the wheels rolling for worldwide distribution. The 999cc, 16-valve, DOHC, 6-speed inline four has a bore of 80mm and a stroke of 49.7mm. The engine churns out a stomach-lurching 207bhp (152kW) with a maximum rpm of 14,500. Maximum torque is 81lbs-ft (111Nm) at 11,000rpm.
