Flagstaff, Arizona
6,910 ft. 70,000 people. We roll into town after a slowish drive from Winslow 50 or 60 miles east. It's getting late. We've been dawdling and filling up with gas and stopping here and there to gawp. Flagstaff has mountain air. It blows down and chills the sunlight, but it's a nice feeling. Homely. We locate a suitable hotel and make our peace with it. Then we find an agreeable eatery in the old town and enjoy a pizza (with special house sauce) and finish it off with ice cream. The staff are friendly. Service is good. We finish the meal and drive some streets. Then it's time to sleep.
