Flagstaff to Williams, Arizona
We check out the town before we leave. The metro area (such as it is) is laid out in a typical grid. It's a working town. Not too self-conscious. A place to which you might want to return. Ordinaryville, USA. But now it's time to hit Williams, Arizona; a place that many folk feel is the epicentre of Route 66. It's not far. Just 25 miles or so. Williams is also the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon". Do we want to look at a giant hole in the ground? We decide against it. We've been on the road since New York, and there are still miles to cover.
