Travelling Illinois
The price of gas is falling. We're in the Midwest, and Illinois is a big petroleum refining state. Back in New York, where our trip really started, gas was around $2.40 per gallon. We're now paying around $2.10 - $2.20. We're driving a brand new Ford Mustang convertible. A motorcycle simply won't do. We've got too many miles and too little time. We can't afford to wait for weather to clear, and we need to keep a high average mileage of around 400 per day. The final destination is San Francisco via LA, and we're driving all the way back to NY via everywhere and Washington. Three weeks. Four wheels. Needs must.
