St Louis postcard
We had breakfast in Springfield 96 miles ago. Now we need coffee and a break. So we cruise around for maybe an hour looking for action, but it's mostly dead. We park and check out some buildings, and we take some snaps and eventually decide to move on. Ahead, a young guy at the roadside is holding a piece of cardboard. He wants change. We drive past, but feel bad and return and give him a few dollars. He's grateful and looks hungry. We're in the world's biggest economy having travelled from the 5th richest and we're handing out dollar bills to the needy. We think about that for a long time afterwards as we hunt down that vital coffee.
