San Bernardino, California
San Bernardino is a happening place. Universities, Museums. Government offices. Theatres. Shopping Malls. Truck stops. Gas stations. Motels. And the last gasps of Route 66. The first McDonalds restaurant was sited here, and we stop for food and coffee. Over 200,000 people live in the San Bernardino Valley overlooked by the San Bernardino mountains. It's hard to track Route 66 now. Confusion abounds. But we do what we can. Everything is coming at us so fast. People are moving in higher gear. Already we're missing the Midwest. But Santa Monica is calling, the last stop on the Mother Road. So we battle the traffic and stay focussed.
